Majors Farm TX started in 2019 right outside Richwood, TX as a small hobby farm that consisted off a backyard chicken flock to supply my family and friends with fresh eggs and a handful of registered Jersey and Brown Swiss cows that we showed in 4H. Due to the nature of dairy cattle and the amount of work that goes into owning them, our cows spent the majority of the year at a friend's dairy in Louisiana, while we raised the heifers and kept our dry cows on our property. We soon started a small farm business raising and selling started pullets, pasture raised meat chickens and eggs.
In late 2020 we found the beautiful piece of property in Sweeny, TX that we now call home. We had every intention of building out coops and pens to continue our chicken operation, but my husband, having been raised on a dairy farm himself, didn't take long to decide that he wanted one of his own. We started the licensing process with the State of Texas in January 2021 and the construction phase began. It has been what seemed like the slowest process EVER. We made it through the freeze in February and hurricane Nicholas in September, all while contending with material shortages and price inflations due to COVID. Now I don't know if y'all know this, but Sweeny, TX also had record breaking rainfalls in 2021 the majority of the town itself experienced some pretty severe flooding at one point or another. We were very lucky and while our property had some minor flooding it wasn't a deal breaker for the dairy. Now here we are a year later, we have almost completed the dairy barn itself and the new power lines have just been run. Majors Farm TX, LLC. was founded to be able to provide our community with the safest and best quality farm fresh real raw products that we are capable of. We are super excited to have the end in sight and get up and running.
